How secure is Britain's food supply? We currently import a large proportion of feed, particularly soya, for our farm animals from other countries. This often results in the destruction there of important habitats to grow soya, and results in a large carbon footprint. Imports also leave us vulnerable to the disruption of global supply chains. Can we feed our farm animals healthy, home-grown alternative sources of protein?

Jos and his colleagues work on supporting our agricultural industry through novel research. His studies range from the strategic to the applied, addressing research questions in both monogastric (e.g. pigs, horses) and ruminant (e.g. cows, sheep) farm animals.
