Written by Caryl Churchill, with music originally by Helen Glavin, and arranged by Michael Rasbury.

Led by 4th year students on UHI Perth's Theatre Industry Practice BA(hons) course, this amateur company developed by emerging theatre industry creatives, are proud to make their first mark with a powerful activist theatre piece.
Vinegar Tom is a play set in a small English village in the 17th century, amid the UK witch trials. It follows the story of two women, Joan and her daughter Alice, as they are accused of witchcraft by their neighbours, Margery and Jack, out of spiteful judgment of their differences and socioeconomic status. The play, set to music by Helen Glavin and arranged by Michael Rasbury, explores themes such as oppression and poverty to highlight the village spiralling down a road of blame as tensions build between relations. Other key characters in the play provide a representation of differing experiences and circumstances that people would have faced in this time period. The featured music provides a modern-day perspective of the events in our history, as well as making a point of comparison to similar events today.
Doors will open 30 minutes before ticket time (6:00 pm/12:30 pm), and the performance will have a run time of approximately 90 minutes. This production will be a straight-through performance and will have no interval.
This production is restricted to viewers aged 16 and above due to strong language and mildly graphic content. The show portrays themes of death, discrimination, misogyny and violence.
