In 2019, during building works in the Perthshire village of Methven, a hoard of 17th-century coins was discovered.
This hoard consists of 68 coins and a pottery vessel. In this talk, Dr Carl Savage will look at the hoard from its discovery to its display and will focus on the wider picture of the coins and their place within 17th-century Perthshire.
The hoard was reported to the Treasure Trove Unit when it was found and was subsequently acquired by Perth Museum. The majority of the hoard is now in the care of Culture Perth & Kinross.
