Returning to the festival after a sell out performance in 2024, Pete and Muriel will be playing a selection of some of the best of Scotland's fiddle music with composers old and new, including Neil Gow, who lived just across the river Tay from the Cathedral. Come and enjoy fiddle music that sets the foot tapping and can stir the soul in equal measure!
Pete is a former tutor at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a much respected performer, teacher and composer. He directs his own biannual fiddle courses in the village of Birnam, coaches and conducts the Dunkeld & District Strathspey & Reel Society and is co-founder of the annual Niel Gow Festival in Dunkeld & Birnam. Pete is a visiting lecturer on Niel Gow and the fiddle music of Scotland at the University of St Andrews and writes a regular feature for “Fiddler Magazine”, published quarterly in the USA. Muriel is in great demand around the world for her playing, accompaniment and teaching. On her “Scotscores” label she has released over 30 albums and has contributed to many other recordings. Muriel has worked with Pete for many years and together they appear on the album Niel Gow’s Fiddle.
